Going Places

People often take advantage of a new year to start fresh and wipe the slate clean: stop eating sweets or red meat, start writing that novel, etc. Personally, we sometimes do this, too.

As a growing business, The Yard Ramp Guy takes a different approach. Year upon year, we continue to learn, to use our experience to build on our success and learn from our challenges. A brief review, then, of where we’ve been…

We incorporated five years ago—December 10, 2010 and opened for business January 1, 2011—armed with a website, a computer, a desk, a phone, connections and a solid business plan (the desk also was very solid). Building on clear communication as the foundation for customer satisfaction, sales in 2012 grew five times over those of the previous year.

In 2013, we rebranded the company and became known officially as The Yard Ramp Guy. The name change, combined with strategic marketing and SEO campaigns, brought an immediate impact. The year’s sales grew 12 percent.

2014 brought dramatic company growth: extensive training of additional employees; additional investment in hardware, software; enhanced networking initiatives; and stronger sales that firmly established us as a coast-to-coast operation. The strategy and the hard work brought company sales over the seven-figure mark for the first time.

In 2015, we replatformed the website and added some industry-leading innovations like our interactive yard ramp locator map, which provides access to updated yard ramp locations and links to specs and photos. In adding a Sales Coordinator to our team, we are prepared for success and growth now and for years to come. We even trademarked The Yard Ramp Guy with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

McCoy Fields | The Yard Ramp Guy®Also new to The Yard Ramp Guy family is McCoy Fields, The Yard Ramp Guy, a licensed trademark. In our view, McCoy is the last of the Renaissance Men—smart, curious about his world, and passionate about great inventions (especially the ramp, which he describes as “this magnificent invention that helps us get up and eases us back down”). He maintains a regular blog, The Ramp Rules, where he waxes on about everything under—and often over—the sun.

As we ramp up for 2016, we find that open and honest reflection on our history continues to serve the company well. We see patterns of growth. We see the great benefits of building the skills of our team in a holistic way. And we see the importance of solid, personal communication with our clients and vendors.

For our current clients and vendors and business associates, we wish you a healthy, happy new year, filled with continued partnership.

For those of you happening on this page for the first time and for those considering business with us, we look forward to welcoming you to The Yard Ramp Guy family in 2016.
